Holiday Events In Your Neighborhood!

Monday, November 28th, 2011

It is official – the time for Christmas preparation is upon us! What better way to get into the holiday spirit than to participate in one of many upcoming holiday events?  Check out these local holiday favorites:

Chanhassen Tree Lighting Ceremony: The City of Chanhassen will celebrate the lighting of their holiday tree on Saturday, December 3 at 5:00PM at City Center Park.  Enjoy a sneak peek of the City’s tree, refreshments, live reindeer visits, and a gingerbread house display.  Gather around a bonfire, listen to carolers and don’t miss out on a special visit from Santa Claus at this free event, open to the public.  Visit the city website for more information.

Arboretum Holiday Sale: Are you ready to deck you halls?  Head to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum’s Holiday Sale to purchase your balls of holly!  Also available will be wreaths, greens and potpourris, and a variety of homemade gifts.  The event will take place Saturday, December 4 and Sunday, December 5 and all proceeds will benefit the Arboretum.

IBEW Holiday Lights In The Park: Are you looking for holiday light displays but don’t want to have to drive around town to find them?  Each year, St. Paul’s Phalen Park is transformed with lights and color by the International Brotherhood of Electrician Workers.  Complete with over 50 larger-than-life holiday sculptures and animated displays, the park is open each night from 5:30 – 10:00PM, November 22nd – January 1st.  This fully volunteer-manned event raises fund for four partner charities and costs $10.00 per vehicle to tour the park.

Holidazzle Parade: The Minneapolis Holidazzle parade, now celebrating its twentieth year, has become a holiday tradition for many Minnesota families.  Taking place on Nicollet Mall from 12th Street – 4th Street, this annual parade features fully lighted floats, familiar storybook characters, and holiday music.  Free and open to the public, the parade runs Thursdays – Sundays, from November 25 – December 18, beginning at 6:30PM each night.  Visit the Holidazzle website for more information!
